2014 EngineerGirl Essay Contest and NAE video contest (grades 3-12)

In celebration of its upcoming 50th anniversary, the National Academy of Engineering is launching two exciting contests to show the impact that engineering has or will have on society.
The annual EngineerGirl Essay Contest is open to boys and girls in grades 3-12 and includes prizes of up to $500 in each of three age categories. The deadline for the 2014 essay contest, entitled, “50 Years of Engineering in Society,” is March 1, 2014.
Essay Contest

Engineering for You (E4U) is a video competition open to individuals in middle school and up. We are offering a $25,000 grand prize and $5,000 People’s Choice award as well as category prizes to the most inspiring 1-2 minute videos focused on how engineering serves human welfare and the needs of society. Contestants can choose any time period between 1964 and 2064 for their video. The contest will run from Nov. 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014.
Learn more at www.e4uvideocontest.org.

You are invited to join us in highlighting engineering achievements past, present, and future as well as make others aware of how engineering endeavors have benefited humankind. For teachers, these contests would make great class assignments or enhance another project or paper that students are already working on.
We hope that you or your students will participate in one or both of the contests and we also encourage you to share this announcement with your local communities of students, teachers and parents!
For any questions or additional information, please email EngineerGirl@nae.edu or E4Uvideocontest@nae.edu.
Kind Regards,
The EngineerGirl Team
